About us

We are three friends whose paths crossed in a carpentry workshop.

First, we are bound by our greatest respect and love for trees. To this end we endeavour to give them a second life as furniture. We seek to design and construct simple, functional pieces with an eye for beauty, if we can capture it.

We care about working with patience and dedication, letting the wood guide us to reach a unique object with presence in the space it occupies.

We are three children of the Universidad del Trabajo del Uruguay (UTU).

Over the course of many years, we all passed through this School, whether to study carpentry, restoration or the art of the luthier. Here is where we forged our knowledge and it is to this institution, its teachers and students, that we offer our deepest respect and recognition.

We are conscious of our environmental impact, and for this reason we take care to plant new trees, and make it a tradition to gift a young sapling to every one of our clients of bespoke furniture. Our fight is for a cleaner, more natural and greener Earth. These grown trees will absorb carbon dioxide, slowing down the warming of our planet, and, when the time comes, they will give wood for other furniture, work for other carpenters and use for future clients.

Today Taller Caaobetí is established in Montevideo and you can access all its products from our website, its social networks, and you can even find them in alliance with other brands who share the same philosophy.
